Fire update:
Those of you in the park will have seen the intense wildfire that came into the Pilanesberg National Park from the western boundary. So far all humans and animals are safe from what we can tell. The smaller stuff we can’t say, and staff, lodge volunteers and Working on Fire teams have been at it for over 24 hours. It’s hot, it’s windy and the veld is dry with no rain in sight. There is no end to the fire yet either! Yesterday Rebel Fire from Rustenburg also aided the fire fighters and we would like to thank them for their huge effort, you guys a a huge help! Today NWUFPA also joined the fire fighting teams on the ground and in the air with their Huey and water buckets. Thank you to all the loyal people of Pilanesberg who are out there regardless of the circumstances. Thank you to NWUFPA for their support today. Over 51 buckets were emptied over the fire but still it is travelling in a SE direction through the park. Your assistance has made a massive difference. The Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust continues to raise funds wherever needed in Pilanesberg, and if you are in a position to donate toward the fire project please do. No amount is too small. Thank you. It’s really hard to always ask but unfortunately it’s necessary.
