Tour de Pilanesberg Wilderness Cycle Tour

The Pilanesberg Tour de Wilderness is an annual cycle tour hosted by the PWT. The tour takes cyclists through the most scenic and rugged areas of the park, most of which are not accessible to members of the public. The tour is not a race, and is aimed at providing cyclists with a once-in-a-lifetime experience (although many participants return every year!), seeing the untouched parts of the Pilanesberg from a totally different perspective. The tour is a two-day weekend event, with different legs across Saturday and Sunday (dates each year are announced early in the year). The total distance covered is approximately 85km, and the track varies in difficulty from smooth roads to technical, steep, rocky inclines. Guard vehicles accompany the cyclists along the entire route, providing security and a ride-along option in patches where cyclist may wish to hitch a ride. Apart from the breath-taking views, cyclists have also previously seen the Big 5, cheetah, plains game, and various antelope on their tours.

Various sponsors support the event each year, and entry fees include self-catering accommodation within the park itself, your entrance fee, and a goodie bag for each entrant. Refreshments are provided along the route, and a lunch is arranged once the tour is complete. This is one of our most well-supported, and popular fund raising events, and we cannot wait to see you at our next tour!
