Stephen out of surgery. 
Saw Dr. and all looks good. Essentially, he explained, that Stephens back snapped in 2.
More damage once they opened him up than they had seen before on the scans etc. so this was the correct choice.
Now its rest and recovery. Baby steps….
Stephen already able to move more than a couple of hours ago!
I am relieved and ready to get a good nights rest.

Update (15 Feb): Steve is walking a bit. Resting well, and Tuesday the staples come out.
