OSRAM participated in a rhino notching with the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust and Terra-Nova. This experience makes it possible for the Pilanesberg to do essential rhino monitoring and information collection. By notching and taking DNA during this process we keep an accurate record of the rhino in the park. The DNA kit is sent back to Onderstepoort where all the information is captured onto the database of rhino in SA. If a rhino horn is ever found or confiscated it can then be traced back to its origins. This evidence makes the prosecution of poachers possible.
