“Our next chapter finally starts. We are elated to share with you all that the rhino orphans have been relocated to the promised 4800 hectares of Paradise, on the reserve where the Rhino Orphanage has been rebuilt. Over the last 7 weeks the orphans have undergone a soft release and are monitored very closely for signs of stress and/or a drop in body condition. Everyone has learnt so much, gained invaluable experience but most importantly everything went exceptionally well. Tranquilizing and moving any wild animal always carries a massive risk and we are immensely grateful that we have one of South Africa’s top wildlife vets, Dr Pierre Bester on our Team. Apart from a few small logistical issues, all the orphans travelled safely, and are now happily roaming the stunning reserve under the ever watchful eyes of our Team members. The past few months have taken their toll on our stress levels but we made it and now, with sleeves rolled up, we are ready for the next 10 years (and beyond) of rescuing, rehabilitating, releasing, protecting and loving Africa’s amazing rhinos. Thank you to everyone near and far for your incredible support. We could not have done this without you all.”
