Today the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust, in conjunction with the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela Community Property Association, delivered food parcels to the most needy and vulnerable in BBK communities around the Pilanesberg National Park.

This particular project was a massive effort from many parts. Most of all from Legacy Lodges manager at Bakubung; Joel Papenfus and his amazing staff. 6 tons of NutriWell was delivered to the lodge followed by 35 tons of fruit and vegetables. All had to be unpacked before being repacked into 9 x 25 seater game viewers for distribution to 32 villages covering 1240 households.

Thank you to the Community Property Association leaders Jerry, Sophy, Phiri and Tshepiso for their input and direction. It helped that families were identified in advance!

Each area had headsman that drove with us to direct us to the homes of the people receiving the food parcels. The gratefulness and happiness was honestly very moving. I only wish we could do more! There are so many destitute families out there.

This was a challenging project with so much to do and not too much time to do it all in. Thank you to all the lodge guides and staff for the willingness and support today. Thank you Bakubung Bush Lodge and Mankwe Game Trackers for their guides, vehicles and the fuel. Thank you all who assisted and made this possible!
