World Lion Day – an estimated 22,000 lions remain in the wild. Lions, like every other wild and free species, are facing the fate of habitation loss all over Africa. Pilanesberg is home to between 60 and 70 lions currently.
Lions are a must see species for anyone visiting South Africa, and our wildlife is our biggest drawing card in terms of tourist attractions. Yet we continue to encroach on their territory. And tourism is probably South Africa’s largest GDP. Creating countless jobs and amazing careers. Yet we don’t take the time to put 2 and 2 together!
