This past weekend the North West Parks and Tourism Board held their World Ranger Day at La Boheme in Vaalkop Nature Reserve. The 4 teams, Pilanesberg, Madikwe, Borakalalo and Central, all had competitions in various fields of training and work. Drills, target practice, obstacle courses and firearm dismantling to name a few. It was great to see a good number of lady rangers. Hopefully a field that will grow still. Also included in the events today were 12 learners from local primary school Borite. Thank you to Reginah Smith and Hendrik Ncheche for their time and dedication in taking these learners through the basis of junior warriors. I hope we see more of them, and many more like them, from the surrounding communities. It was really an honour to be among the hard working and dedicated rangers. Thank you to you and all the world’s rangers. Remain safe wherever you find yourselves.
