Tour de Pilanesberg Wilderness 2023 was hosted in the park on 27, 28, and 29 October. This was the 10th tour, and we had over 50 cyclists participating! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers and cyclists who participated and assisted with our tour this year. As you may be aware the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust has an annual cycle event to raise funds for rhino conservation in Pilanesberg. Day 1 was a gruelling 55km through the wilderness and the northwestern part of the Park. Really a tough one and luckily the sun stayed away for most of the ride. Day 2 was a more relaxed ride around hippo loops and Mankwe way. Really a fun group of cyclists. Thank you all who were a part of this event – whether on a bike or looking after someone on a bike! This year’s tour was on another level, a truly amazing 2 days with awesome cyclists and a team of volunteers 2nd to none. Thank you to North West Parks Board, Makanyane Volunteers, Fops Sediba, Pilanesberg Honorary Officers, Bushveld Mosaic, Wilderness Leadership School, Raymond Steyn (our pilot for the event), ER24 Vanderbijlpark Branch, and Garry Needham.
