Thank you so much to Cathy Evans and Claire Chick for this beautufil initiative.
“The Ranton Rhinos are ready to be rehomed! They’ve been hand-painted, expertly fired and lovingly beribboned. During at least some of those processes, the potters had to simultaneously wrangle a naughty puppy. This is not a challenge they face on the Great Pottery Throw Down. Cathy, Karen and I have made two sizes of hanging rhinos, perfect for your Christmas tree but a cute decoration all year round. There are also fridge magnets and brooches/hat badges without which you simply aren’t properly dressed. All proceeds go to support vital anti-poaching protection for rhinos in South Africa’s Pilanesberg National Park. We’ve tried to keep prices as reasonable as possible and are incredibly grateful for the support we received with both specialist paints and kiln space helping us reduce the production costs, which we have covered. We hope to take some rhinos over to their homeland next month, to be sold by the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust. These are the prices – please let us know what you’d like within the next 7-10 days so that we can organise collection or local delivery ahead of our trip.
Large hanging rhino ornament £5
Small hanging rhino ornament £3
Fridge magnets £3
Brooch/hat badge £3
NB not all of them have little red neck bows. To be honest, we lost the will to live making these and Cathy stuck her fingers together. So very much lucky dip with the bows.”
