We are happy and relieved to report that little Mpho’s plasma-transfusion went smoothly and without any hiccups late yesterday afternoon. The procedure took about 27 minutes under anaesthesia and 300ml of plasma was administered. The little girl was monitored very carefully and thankfully there was no anaphylactic reaction. We would like to thank everyone who made this possible and involved with Fresh Frozen Plasma; Li-Ann Grobler for her dedication in collecting blood, Dr Robert Campbell and the Team at Val de Grace animal hospital, conservation, research, exotics and wildlife for their blood evaluation work and storage of the precious plasma, and especially our good friends from Rhino 911 who sponsors this wonderful and life-saving project. And thank you Dr Pierre for your commitment, passion and love for rhino that you give selflessly every time. Keep doing what you all are doing for our precious rhinos. *Information courtsey of TRO*
