Update: Molopo Nature Reserve on the Botswana border of South Africa, Sister park to Pilanesberg.

Still no rain in Molopo and the animals continue to suffer for this. They have water but there is no grazing. Park management is doing what they can with the resources and funds available to them. Park staff have started to put out feed that has been delivered. Many thanks to Rhino911, Schalk, Andre Ward, Jan van Heteren and all the donors.

We have raised R26,000.00 so far for Molopo through the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust. Every cent raised will go directly to Molopo rescue. Many thanks to everyone that has donated. You are amazing! Today North West Parks Chief Ecologist will be in Molopo to assess the situation. Once I hear from him I will know what the way forward is and how many animals will need food. So far 1100 bales of lucern and teff have been delivered.

The animals do not know about feeding so it will take them awhile to start eating in their masses from the delivered fodder. Problems will also arise when stronger animals push weaker ones away. Anyway we will do our best to make sure of a positive outcome!

If you are keen to volunteer please let me know on email: pdell@nwpb.org.za. You will need a 4×4 loading vehicle (pickup/bakkie) as Molopo roads in the Reserve are sand as it is in the Kalahari. We are also looking for old conveyor belt to feed the animals on as they cannot ingest too much sand. Feed and transport is still needed as this is an ongoing project for at least the next 3 months. If you are willing to donate please go to the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust website. We are a registered NPO and PBO and can issue an 18A certificate for your donation.
