Sadly Mavuso passed away from a fight with a younger bull elephant. It’s tough and it is heartbreaking but that is nature and the natural order of the wild. We will all miss him sorely. Mavuso was one of the original Kruger Bulls that came into Pilanesberg in 1993 if memory services.
The Kruger Bulls, seven of them, were brought in to Pilanesberg to calm down the population of young bulls who were reeling havoc with the Rhinos in the park. I think they killed around 50 Rhinos as they had no dominant bull elephants to keep them in check. So Mavuso was one of the bulls that calmed the youngsters down and restored order in the park. Sorry to see you go boy. You were a legend.
