So the little guy that avoided us yesterday was found today! And turns out it is a girl!! Double jackpot! She is 5 months old and lost her mommy late Sat or early Sun to poachers.
Thanks Elzanne at Mafikeng Game Reserve for finding little Tshidi, meaning ‘Blessed’. Elzaan who was hit by a Rhino while on a walk some time ago, is known as Tshidi as well. Park Manager Louis and his team, along with Nanti, caught little Tshidi. Well done and thank you!!
Like Echo, Tshidi is very weak and is being airlifted by Tokkie of ‘Flying for Freedom’. Tokkie kindly hired a larger helicopter to collect the young female. Dr Gerhardus Scheepers is along to administer the necessary meds etc.. Tshidi will go to the RO as well, to be looked after until she can be released back into the wild.
Thank you to all that made this possible! Thanks Tokkie for going the extra mile and for your continued support and passion of these special creatures!!
Stay safe Tshidi, and get strong again soon….
❤️
Update… Little Tshidi is safely at her new home. She also started drinking so things are looking up!
