As you are all aware, Ike was shot at, horns hacked off and left for dead almost 1 year ago. While on a trail Ike was discovered walking with other Rhinos. The only difference was his horn was missing and he had a wound where the horn used to be! Ike was captured and treated at the time. The wound has seen 2 shields, and today Ike was treated by Saving the Survivor’s Dr Gerhard Steenkamp once again.
Today though, the entire left over piece of horn was surgically removed. Ike’s horn bed was severely damaged when the poachers hacked them off. But a little piece had grown that would make Ike vulnerable to poachers again. The entire operation took 1 hour and was very successful. Once again a shield has been placed on Ike’s face to protect the area that was treated.
