Update on New Arrival
It has been a rough couple of days for the newest orphan at TRO. Calling and constantly looking for his mom, not even the company of Impi and Osindile, could comfort him. Impi and Osindile were both very unsure of him at first, and he was defensive, so there was some bellowing and avoidance between the 3 orphans for the last 2 days. Luckily things have calmed down since the early hours of this morning and the team is hopeful that they will accept each other soon. Our vet Dr. Pierre has also done x-rays on his face and has given him the ALL CLEAR, no bullet and the little wound has closed up well. We did notice lion claw-marks above his tail base, just emphasizing a young, orphaned rhinos’ vulnerability without its mom. We are grateful that he survived out there on his own for more than a week.
