After spotting an injured Giraffe in the Park, the Vet, Dr Scheepers, was called in to have a look.
After darting the Giraffe and on closer inspection her swollen leg was clearly visible. She also had an abscess under one foot. The vet treated all the wounds that were visible.
Sadly the Giraffe passed away whilst an attempt was made to raise her once the necessary work was completed.
Taking a close look at her teeth we could see she was really quite old… There was a lot of interest from visitors who had spotted the Giraffe so we wanted to update all on what happened.
One may say rather not interfere, and let nature take it course, but there are times when intervention is necessary, and this was one of those times. Thanks to all that assisted on the day.
