Fire fighting of wild fires and block burns continue in the Pilanesberg… Monday past saw 2 wildfires come into the Park from outside. One on Kwa Maritane side and the other in the wilderness between Bakubung and Tshukudu Lodges. A section of the latter fire was not accessible by road so a helicopter was called in to ferry the fire fighters and equipment into the area. It was hectic! Fires are a serious concern at this time of year. The winds make it almost impossible to contain and risk to animals and humans is always there. Resources are limited and the terrain in Pilanesberg is not easy to work with, with rocks covering most of the ground area in the park. Thank you to all that assisted, and continue to assist.
