So… After releasing 2 male cheetah here from Dinokeng a couple of days ago, we now captured one of our 3 years old females to go to Marekele NP. The female cheetah that remained has been collared, so be sure to look out for her. It is important for the cheetah meta population that their genes are spread through as many cheetah parks as possible.

Though we are sad to split these 2 females they would naturally split once they started breeding. Our 2 male cheetah that went to Marakele NP a few months ago have subsequently been relocated to another reserve, Shambala.

EWT manages the meta populations and we are guided by their recommendations in all of these moves. Thank you to all the park visitors that waited patiently for us to complete the necessary work today. I am glad you got to be a part of this. Thanks also to Dr Zoe Glyphis and Vincent van der Merwe of EWT.
