Sunday morning the PWT assisted with an early morning Cheetah capture. Rain, who passed away over a year ago, still had two of her adult cheetah cubs here in Pilanesberg National Park – a female and a male. To stop any possible in-breeding within the population, the male was captured and relocated to another reserve near Welgevonden – Ka’inga. Thanks to Olivia Sievert at EWT and vet Zöe Glyphis for their successful capture of the male cheetah. Thanks to all that assisted with this capture! These relocations are essential to maintaining a healthy genetic variability within the cheetah population, and an unrelated male cheetah will be introduced into Pilanesberg in due time.
